How does Thnk collect personal information?

Thnk only collects personal information that has been provided to us directly by our clients or prospective clients, employees or prospective employees, associates of clients or is otherwise available in the public domain that will assist us in the successful provision of professional services. We highlight the information may have been obtained in either written or verbal form.

 

Where it is considered unreasonable or impractical to collect personal information (e.g. name, address, date of birth) directly from an associate of a client (e.g. spouse), Thnk may collect personal information through other means.

 

The extent and type of information we receive from you on our external website depends on the information you provide to us through our mailbox address and / or registration process on our site for publications.

 

Our website uses cookies (ie. small text files stored on a computer that help us know which browser the operator is using, where they have been on our site and which web sites they linked from to arrive at our site). Should Thnk be required to provide personal information to third parties outside of the firm, we will make every effort to ensure the confidentiality of the information being provided is protected.

 

 

Overseas services disclosure

We may need to provide personal information to overseas recipients in order to provide the services under the terms of our engagement or prospective engagement. The location to which the information will be provided will depend upon the nature of the client assignment (e.g. specialisation / area of expertise).

 

Where personal information is disclosed to overseas recipients, Thnk will take all reasonable steps to ensure the personal information is secure and treated in accordance with Australian Privacy Principles.

 

How will Thnk keep your personal information secure?

Thnk has security measures designed to protect against the loss, misuse and/or alteration of the personal information under its control. Only authorised Thnk personnel have access to personal information, who are required to treat all information confidentially. We may be required to maintain personal information for a long period of time, however, this information is destroyed when no longer required in accordance with our document destruction policy.

 

Our policy is to maintain all electronic records within Australia. However, on occasion, a limited number of software applications may involve the storage of personal information within an overseas location, this will vary depending on the provider.

 

Thnk will only store data with an external provider when an assessment has been made to determine the security protocols are consistent with the level of security that Thnk could provide if stored in-house and when Thnk is able to meet its commitments under Australian Privacy Legislation.

 

 

Correcting and updating your personal information

Access to personal information

You can request access to your personal information held by Thnk in accordance with Australian Privacy Principles, please request this information in writing to our office. The Australian Privacy Principles set out the circumstances in which we can refuse requests for personal information. Complaints

You may make a complaint about Thnk’s handling of your personal information, or in relation to your dealings with us about your personal information, by contacting our office as specified below.

 

Thnk handles any complaints received by providing a written response within 30 days of receipt of the written complaint and, where appropriate, advise you of the general reasons for the outcome of the complaint. If a party is not satisfied with our response to a complaint lodged, they may contact the Commonwealth Information Commissioner.
