Covid-19 Hardship Grant for SA Businesses December 2021 

The state government recently announced income support in the form of 2 types of cash grants for eligible South Australian businesses who have been significantly impacted by the trading restrictions in place from 27 December 2021 to 9 January 2022. 

Eligible businesses which employ people in South Australia will receive a cash grant of $6,000. Eligible businesses which have no employees (for example, non-employer sole traders) will receive a cash grant of $2,000.

Cash Grants 

The eligibility criteria for both the $6,000 and $2,000 grants are as follows: 

As at 12:01am Monday 27 December 2021: 

  • Have a valid and active Australian business number (ABN) 
  • Be registered for goods and services tax (GST) 
  • Be located and operating within South Australia 
  • Have an Australia-wide grouped payroll of less than $10 million in the 2019-20 or 2020-21 financial year  
  • Have experienced at least a 50% reduction in turnover due to the restricted trading conditions over the 2 weeks from 27 December 2021 to 9 January 2022 when compared to the corresponding two-week period in other years depending on when the business commenced. If you have received any support under the Tourism, Hospitality and Gym grant or Major Events Support Grant you will not be eligible for the business hardship grant. 

A further $2,000 grant will be available for both employing and non-employing eligible businesses with a commercial premises in the Adelaide CBD.
To be eligible, the relevant business must have operated from a commercial premises with the postcode 5000. Residential and vacant land are not considered commercial for the purpose of the grant.
